Today we officially began our unit on the respiratory system. Powerpoint today and Friday will cover the anatomy of this rather straightforward system. The second part of today was the dissection of the cat respiratory system, both in the head and neck area and exposing the thoracic cavity and its lungs. It was a very active dissection today.

A useful demonstration that was part of today's presentation was the set of pig's lungs suspended in a pipe-like framework. The attached petal allowed them to be inflated. The 3D torso model is also particularly useful for this unit.
