Hunterdon County Polytech
2010 Classroom Policies
In order to have a classroom that is fair to everyone and runs smoothly, it is important that expectations are clearly communicated from the beginning. The bottom line in all of this is fairness to all based on mutual respect for all of us. If you or your parents have any questions about these, please ask.
1. Safety: As the saying goes, safety first. There is a whole separate list of safety guidelines for our classroom. Please make sure you read and understand them. You will be held to them throughout the year.
2. Computer use: Throughout the year we will be using computers in many aspects of the course. Right away you will be assigned a COW (computers on wheels) computer from the cart. That will be YOUR computer throughout the year.
a. If you notice any problem with the computer, report it to one of the teachers right away.
b. These computers are for class work only, not for social networking or checking email. If there are special circumstances, ask permission.
3. Attendance: One of the most common reasons for student difficulty is excessive absence from class. From the beginning, make the commitment to be here every day, unless one of the legal and legitimate reasons prevents you from doing so. Polytech has specific policies regarding attendance.
4. Punctuality: Even though you may think that because our classes are so long, punctuality should not be such a big deal. Realize, though, that each day may actually be two or three lessons together, so time is critical. Also, because you put more time in at Polytech than you do at one of your home school’s courses, you will receive more credit for this course. Please be on time.
5. Bathroom: Except for an emergency we try to have one student at a time go to the bathroom, using the classroom’s bathroom key.
6. Vending machines: These are off limits during class time. That includes trips to and from the bathroom. They are available before and after class.
7. Cell phones: These are also off limits during class time. That includes trips to and from the bathroom. Use them before and after class. If there are special circumstances, check with one of the teachers.
8. What you will need: ___GB flash drive, three-ring binder, close-toed shoes, one pair of scrubs. These are needed by Monday, September 13.
