We all wish Mrs. Pike the best, as she will be away from us for a few weeks, and we give a warm hello to Mrs. Isles, who will be standing in for her for the next few weeks.
Today we had a brief introduction of the nervous system through Power Point. We also conducted a review for tomorrow's test on the muscular system. With that test in mind, pay attention to these points as you study:
1. Know the basic structure of a skeletal muscle cell. See Figure 6.3 in your textbook.
2. Know the basic ideas of the sliding filament theory of muscle contraction. See Figure 6.8.
3. Know the graphs of single cell and whole muscle contraction, Figure 6.9.
4. Know the different types of body movements, Figure 6.13.
5. Know the superficial muscles of the face and neck, Figure 6.15.
6. Review and have a good knowledge of the content of your Power Point notes.
7. For extra credit know the origin, insertion, and action of at least two muscles.
